Hagong Fm
Type Locality and Naming
Named by the District Survey Team of Yunnan Geological and Mining Bureau in 1983. The named section is located at Milk Powder Factory and Hu Pi Mountain, Zhongdian County (now called "Shangri-La" County), Yunnan.
Synonym: The original Hagong Formation represents the Late Triassic Norian-age clastic-based deposits in Zhongdian, and the lower and upper parts of the equivalent strata were called "Milk Powder Factory Formation" and "Geding Fm" respectively by Chengdu Institute of Geology and Mines, Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences and Sichuan Area Survey Team in 1992. The present Lexicon uses the Hagong Fm.
Lithology and Thickness
It is dominated by clastic rocks and supplemented by carbonate rocks. It is divided into two sections. Lower section is yellow thin-medium thickness mudstone, siltstone, fine sandstone, sand conglomerate, conglomerate with a small amount of tuff, marl, dolomitic mesoscopic tuff and oolitic tuff, 2007 m thick. Upper section is yellow and yellow-green calcareous mudstone, siltstone, calcareous siltstone, sandy mud siltstone, sandstone with gray and dark gray thin-medium marl and bioclastic tuff interbedded with a small amount of siliceous rock and siliceous mudstone, 1126 m thick.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
The bottom is in pseudo-conformable contact with the underlying Wangchika Fm.
Upper contact
The top boundary is marked by a non-conformable surface.

Bivalves: Halobia cf. pluriradiata, H. cf. plicosa, Costatoria napengensis, C. cf. praenapengensis, C. cf. verbecki, C. aff. nuitoensis.
